Position Overview:
The Sales Manager is a high-performing hunter responsible for identifying, pursuing, and closing new business opportunities across A, B, and C tier prospects in the food and beverage industry. This outside sales role focuses on selling packaging solutions, ingredient materials, and development/operational services to emerging and established brands. The position is field-driven, requiring up to 75% travel to engage new clients face-to-face and grow the company’s customer base. Success in this role is measured by achieving or exceeding new business acquisition quotas.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
New Business Development:
- – Meet or exceed assigned quota for new customer acquisition and revenue generation
- – Prospect and qualify leads across A, B, and C customer segments using industry knowledge, referrals, and lead generation tools
- – Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline with a consistent focus on new opportunities
Customer Engagement & Travel:
- – Travel up to 75% to meet with prospects, deliver presentations, conduct plant tours, and participate in trade shows or networking events
- – Understand each prospect’s specific needs and tailor product and service solutions accordingly
Sales Process Management:
- – Own the full sales cycle from lead generation through closing
- – Collaborate with internal stakeholders (marketing, technical teams, customer service) to support proposal development and onboarding
Market Intelligence:
- – Stay current on industry trends, competitive activity, and potential growth areas
- – Provide feedback to leadership and marketing on messaging, market gaps, and product opportunities

Qualifications & Skills:
- – Bachelor’s degree in business related function, or equivalent professional work experience
- – 5+ years of outside sales or business development experience in packaging and/or services in the food and beverage space
- – Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding new business sales quotas
- – Self-motivated, persistent, and energized by building relationships and closing deals
- – Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- – Willing and able to travel up to 75%
- – Proficiency with CRM systems and sales prospecting tools
